Tips for Speech Content

Posted in: Tips and Tricks

There is a saying, “In life, don’t sweat the small stuff … and remember, it’s all small stuff.” Many times, though, generating content for a speech seems ominous. In actuality, it can be easy and fast - if you know how to leverage existing content in the world or how to access content you already know - and turn them into your own customized, crafted speech. Without further ado …

Here are 3 tips for getting content easily for your speeches.

1. Books or magazines. You can take a chapter or article, either from a book that’s sitting on your shelf, one you’re reading right now, or one you’d like to read, and convert it into a speech.

2. YouTube. YouTubes has lots of speeches and discussions, on virtually any topic you can think of. These can provide a great source for ideas for a speech.

3. IdeaMaps. (Also called MindMaps.) If your speech is on something about your own life, or an area you are an expert in, an IdeaMap can help you generate content. If you’re unfamiliar with IdeaMaps, here’s a place to get started in 8 straightforward steps.

With these techniques, you should be well on your way to generating or leveraging content for many speeches. Have fun!
