Theme for August 6 - Culture Differences and more…

This Thursday night, we are going to talk about —–”Culture Differences and more” which is a particularly interesting topic in our city, don’t you agree?

Immigrants come from every corner of the world to Vancouver, along with their cultures and traditions. We see cultural differences in our everyday life, and in interactions with people from somewhere else. What do you think about our cultural diversity? Do you secretly have an inclination towards one culture rather than another and why is that? How do you link culture to self-identity? Do you agree cultural difference/conflict/shock is the best way to understand where are you
coming from and where are you going to?

For your meeting intro, you can tell me “what is the major cultural difference you noticed after you got here?” or “as a local
Vancouverite, what is the major cultural difference you have found between Canadian culture and others?”

I don’t want to bore you with too much discussion about culture and self-identity, bridging the gap between different cultures, the importance of communication … we’ll keep it light, keep it fun. My main purpose is to get YOU to talk!
